Why’d we make the switch?

Capitan offers a more user-friendly experience for our members with a more intuitive interface, allowing you to have control over your own membership. Your check-ins will go faster than ever, and signing up for classes and events will be a breeze.

EVERYTHING IS MORE FLEXIBLE – NO INITIATION FEES, NO MAINTENANCE FEES, AND NO CANCELLATION FEES

Capitan works a little differently, so we are going to manage memberships a little differently.

FOR THOSE with monthly EFT MEMBERSHIPS

  • The following changes will not apply to individuals who have purchased a new membership within the last 12 months (September 1st, 2023 - August 31st, 2024). For these people, the contracted rate will remain unchanged for the next 12 months (September 1st, 2024 - August 31st, 2025) and will then match the membership rate in effect as of September 2025.

    • Memberships not within the 12 month contract window will be adjusted to the new rate of $80/mo, $140 for Household (Dual) Memberships beginning September 1, 2024. See the full breakdown here.

    • If you have been an EFT Member with us for more than 2 years, you will be automatically sorted into a Loyalty Discount – read more about that below. This means that by doing nothing, you’ll get the best deal.

  • Monthly EFT Memberships are reoccurring month-to-month memberships. This means that your membership will keep going until you cancel it. This also means that we’re removing cancellation fees. It’s commitment, your way.

    • Freeze Fees for memberships will now be a monthly rate – $10 per month for a maximum of 3 months.

    • Things happen – we won’t let you rack up fees if your card gets declined. Memberships will terminate after 30 days of non-payment. You’ll have an additional 30 days to reinstate your membership before you lose loyalty status, and will need to sign up for a new membership.

FOr everybody

  • Dual and Family Memberships are now called Household Memberships. We’re defining these Household Memberships as two adults who live in the same household, with the option to add on dependant children 18 or under.

  • When you maintain a continuous EFT membership, you will automatically get added into a Loyalty Association based on your current EFT Membership start date. This is the only automatic discount association.

  • All other Discounts are applied via ‘Associations’ in Capitan – you’ll have to sign up for your association before the discount is applied. Depending on the association, you’ll have to provide proof before you’re approved. Everyone’s a student of life, but not everyone is literally a student. Discounts do not stack, we will apply the largest discount.

  • These are discounts on the EFT membership rate, and are for folks who have had a continuous EFT membership with us. You've stuck with us through thick and thin and you deserve recognition for it.

    • 2+ years – 5% off

    • 4+ years – 7% off

    • 6+ years – 10% off

    • 8+ years – 12% off

    • 10+ years – 15% off

  • For current students only.

    You will need to submit valid student ID or other proof in the Climber App for approval.

    You will need to reapply every 6 months to be a part of the Student Association.

    • 10% off Monthly EFT Memberships

    • 6% off Prepaid Memberships

    Discounts do not apply to Household Memberships.

  • For current Healthcare workers and Teachers, and active or retired Military.

    You will need to submit an ID for approval for this association.

    For current Healthcare workers and Teachers, you will need to renew your status once a year.
    For Military members, you will need to provide proof of status at the front desk the next time you climb with us. This does not need to be renewed.

    • 5% off EFT Memberships

    • 6% off Prepaid Memberships

your next steps

  • All of your existing information that is currently in our system has migrated over automatically. This applies to all users, including guests and punch-pass users – all 35,000. Seriously.

  • Accept your email invitation (expect that on 08/24/24) from Capitan to join the web-based Climber App. This web-based app is how you’ll access all of your information, manage your membership, and sign up for classes and events.
